Mannes College of Music is a division of The
New School and one of the three major conservatories in New
York City. Mannes College of Music is located on the Upper West
Side, minutes from Lincoln Center.
Since 1987, Lewis Kaplan has been an integral member
of the Mannes College of Music faculty - training and nurturing
classical musicians both privately and with weekly master classes.
Founder David Mannes believed that music education
should be open to all who have a desire to learn. The school remains
committed to this mission and cultivates an intimate and supportive
atmosphere allowing close and constructive relationships among students,
faculty, and administrators.
Alumni of Mannes include Richard Goode, Murray Perahia
and conductor Myung Whun Chung.
